The CGC Cards Grading Process

Grading

After receiving, verifying, and authenticating your card, multiple CGC card professionals examine the card aided by advanced technology.

Encapsulation

After grading, the card and a label bearing its description, grade, certification number and a QR code are inserted into a CGC Cards holder.

Quality Control

A CGC Cards Quality Control Specialist carefully inspects the card, label and holder for accuracy, and any defects or contaminants.

Packaging & Shipping

Encapsulated cards are securely packaged in a sturdy box with protective packaging. The CGC-certified cards are now ready to be sent back to the submitter.

01. Can I use Ultra PRO products to submit my cards for grading to CCG?

Yes! Make sure to place your card in a penny sleeve and then a semi-rigid holder before sending it in.

02. What else does CGC grade besides cards and comics?

Through various different companies, CCG grades sports cards, game cards, comic books, coins, stamps and recently video games and VHS tapes! 

03. What is your return policy? What if an item I order isn't the right fit?

We definitely understand the frustration of ordering the wrong size. You can use the chat button at the bottom right of the page to access your order history and open a return request. Alternatively, you can also email us directly at cs@ultrapro.com. Make sure to include your order number which is in the order confirmation email you receive when your order is placed.

04. What is the difference between a comic bag and a comic preserver?

Comic preservers are a comic board and bag in one! The board is encapsulated inside it's own bag so that the non-acid free board never touches your comic. Comic Bags can hold a comic and a board together. However, there is no divider between them.

05. Do thick cards fit in 9-pocket pages?

We do not recommend storing cards thicker than 55pt in our 9-pocket pages. The pockets are not gusseted for a thicker card, therefore, can cause damage to the corners and edges or your cards.
